What is the difference between Neurotoxins and FillerWhen patients come to my practice for the first time, they often don’t know the difference between neurotoxins such as Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin, and fillers such as Juvederm. Neurotoxins are used to relax frown lines and wrinkles that are visible even when a person is not making a facial expression. These lines become more pronounced when the patient frowns (11’s) or smiles (crow’s feet). Neurotoxins can be used off-label for other areas as well. Fillers are used to add volume to areas such as the temples, cheeks, smile lines, and jawline, which can lose volume due to aging or weight loss. Fillers can also help to contour and correct facial asymmetry. There are many types of fillers available, including Juvederm, Restylane, Bellafill, Radiesse, Sculptra, and PRF gel. I have over 20 years of experience in injecting both neurotoxins and fillers.
